Privacy notice
Draft for the pilot. This notice is being reviewed and will be updated before SafeBus is used with real pupils' data.
What SafeBus does
SafeBus lets a school track its school buses and lets parents follow their own child's bus journey.
What information we handle
- Staff and parent accounts: name, e-mail address, role and a protected (hashed) password.
- Pupils: the details a school enters, such as name, class, stop and the parents linked to the pupil.
- Bus journeys: the position of the bus from the driver's phone or a tracking device while a trip is running, plus trip events such as start, arrival and delay.
- Incidents: reports a driver or school makes about a trip.
- Security records: sign-in and change records, used to keep accounts safe.
SafeBus does not track a parent's or a pupil's own phone.
Who can see it
- A parent sees only the children linked to their own account.
- School staff see the information of their own school only.
- Each school's information is separated from every other school's.
How we protect it
- All pages use an encrypted connection (https).
- Sign-in uses a password and a one-time code sent to the account's e-mail.
- Accounts lock for a time after repeated wrong passwords.
We send sign-in codes, invitations and password resets by e-mail through an e-mail service provider (Resend).
How long we keep it
Retention periods are being finalised with the school and will be published here.
